For the first time ever, 48 teams compete at a single World Cup. The 2026 tournament runs from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with 12 groups of four determined by the draw in Washington D.C. on December 5, 2025. Seven Arab nations are in the field: Iraq, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia and Qatar. Every group, every team and all standings in one place — updated after every matchday.

The 2026 World Cup at a Glance

Dates: June 11 to July 19, 2026.

Format: 48 teams, 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group advance to the Round of 32, alongside the eight best third-placed teams. From the Round of 32 onward, the tournament is a single-elimination knockout.

Hosts: United States, Canada and Mexico. 16 stadiums across 16 host cities.

Final: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey, July 19.

Co-host Mexico open the tournament on June 11 in Mexico City, making this one of the most watched opening games in World Cup history. South Korea carry Asia’s hopes alongside Japan. South Africa return to the World Cup for the first time since they hosted it in 2010. Czechia qualified via the UEFA play-offs after eliminating Denmark on penalties.
